& QPR - Supporting Effective NHS Performance Management
The
NHS is the largest organization in Europe. It is recognised
as one of the best health services in the world by the World
Health Organisation. But as it tries to cope with the increasing
demands of the 21st century, the performance of the NHS, from
waiting lists to hospital league tables, is under scrutiny
as never before.
In
view of the amount of change expected as a result of implementing
the NHS Plan, it is particularly important to have reliable
ways of understanding current performance. The NHS aims to
continually improve services for patients, and Performance
Measurement and Management will help clinicians and managers
identify scope for improvement and demonstrate achievement.
Within
the NHS, performance measures are needed to:
-
Inform patients and the public
- Set targets and track progress over time
- Compare performance
- Allocate resources
These requirements, combined with the increasing emphasis
on the Star Ratings framework, demonstrate the need
for an accurate means of collecting, monitoring and reporting
performance information on a regular basis. Furthermore, managers
and clinicians need to be able to pro-actively use their information
for effective decision-making and to positively influence
behaviour throughout the organization, driving continuous
improvement.
Succeeding
in today's environment requires a new approach to healthcare
management, where the organization is aligned and focused
around the right actions.
Working
in close partnership with our Healthcare clients and utilising
the leading QPR Scorecard system, Infocube have developed
a practical approach to NHS Performance Management, which
is aimed at strengthening and formalizing performance measurement
and strategy communication in every Trust.
Our
solution will:
- Facilitate
and create a successful framework for performance management
- Enable
automatic collection, monitoring & reporting of performance
information
- Deliver
a detailed Star Ratings Scorecard to analyse and manage
historical & future performance
- Enable
staff to view, react & take action on the measures relevant
to their sphere of influence
- Provide
ongoing flexibility to react to changing clinical practices
and government pressures
Our
experienced consultants will work with you to define the performance
model that is right for your PCT, and will implement a successful,
automated, solution enabling users to gain a clear understanding
of activities and performance - through high-impact, traffic
light visuals, action plans, reports and alerts. Our approach
involves three distinct phases:
-
In the 'Design' phase, the Trust validates its strategy
and develops a clear link between this strategy and the operational
requirements of the organization.
- During the 'Build' phase, the Trust translates the
work accomplished in the Design phase into an automated system
which will create efficiencies while increasing access to
crucial data and knowledge.
- The 'Operation' phase signals the on-going use of
the solution and it's integration into the management and
reporting processes of the Trust
The
system will empower staff to set and report on targets, track
changes in performance over time, compare performance with
similar NHS bodies and report against the standards contained
within the Star Ratings Framework. Automation means more time
can be focused on achieving superior performance rather than
on information gathering, and users will have the ability
to respond to the growing pressures now faced by the NHS -
empowering them to achieve greater control, understanding
and improvement in all aspects of their work.
